You take the high road

This is the beautiful Loch Lomond at dawn with Ben Lomond, one of Scotland’s most popular mountains, in the background. The mountain is home to an amazing array of species including peregrine falcons, merlin, ptarmigans, red grouse and the majestic golden eagle. This area is also part of Scotland’s first National Park, Loch Lomond and Trossachs, established in 2002.

The loch and surrounding areas have a much more important role in Scottish cultural life than just tourism generated by it’s beauty and wildlife. Loch Lomond is also known as Loch Darroch, and it’s here that the Scottish soap ‘Take the High Road’ was set. I’ve never seen it but the theme tune has been stuck in my head for a good couple of years now and if you watch this clip it might just be in yours too….
