Watch the teeth…

Another strange little critter. This is a sand diver, a member of the lizard fish family. This one was just resting quite happily on the coral and seems quite harmless. But look at those sharp little teeth ….

There was a little trouble in wildlifephotography.tv headquarters this week. I asked Louise to identify the exact species, then caption and keyword this image, and for some reason I told her it was a serpent fish (instead of lizard fish). I just mis-spoke, and still have no idea why I said it, but it’s never good to send an employee on a 2hr wild goose chase. It’s even less advisable when the employee concerned is your spouse!
