The true meaning of Christmas

by Darren

Yes I know it’s bad enough going into a supermarket and seeing mince pies at the moment (don’t worry, next month they’ll have the Easter eggs out!), but I came across this and thought it deserved exposure.  This image was taken last Christmas in Edinburgh.

These beautiful animals, used to living in peace, locked up in a pen in the middle of a busy city, far away from the wonderful rural landscape they’d inhabit if they weren’t kept for human enjoyment.

I can’t think of a more appropriate image to demonstrate the surreal human relationship with animals.  And it’s about as far from the true meaning of Christmas that you can possibly get.
