The also-rans: Tawny Owl

by Darren

I haven’t worked with wild animals in a captive environment for several years, simply because I don’t enjoy it.  I think wild animals should only be kept in establishments for genuine conservation and not for human entertainment, and in any case there is so much more pleasure to be had from the challenge of seeing and photographing them in their natural habitat.

However, when I first started I did the occasional day in places that I judged to have good welfare standards and this image was taken on one of those.

I’ve been asked about which images sell well, and this owl has done particularly well as a print, which is why I picked it out to show it to you.  Indeed if I had achieved an image such as this in the wild I’d easily have placed it in my top 10.

If you’d like to order any of our images as prints, then please click on one of the large images in each post which will take you to our fulfillment site which is hosted by PhotoShelter.  You can also search the online library using the box which appears in the footer of every page on this site.

We’re currently processing and uploading a large backlog of images so over the next few weeks and months the quantity of images will grow exponentially, and we’ll also add more products (for example, we’re currently evaluating a canvas supplier).  If you’re looking for a particular image or product, please contact us and we can advise you of what we have which may meet your purpose.

Happy browsing!
