The also-rans: Bird on a stick

This is the last of the also-rans, a beautiful lilac-breasted roller perched atop a tree stump in the Masai Mara.  I really like the way it shows the immediate environment, but a friend of mine insists that there’s too little bird and too much ‘stick’.  As ever, I’d be delighted to have your comments.
