Squirrel or chipmunk? Who knows.

Of course this is a beautiful red squirrel but they way it is holding its paw right up to its mouth while nibbling away does remind me a lot of a chipmunk. As with most of the other reds that I’ve photographed this one is from the reserve at Formby. The area has suffered a devastating bout of squirrel pox and lost much of its population however the good news is that Recently there’s been an increase in their numbers.

    Awesome capture, never heard about this.. Red squirrel. Which is not too surprising as we don’t have squirrels here in Israel, at all.
