Sleepy girl
by Dave 'The Longest Way Home'

When I was sent a batch of Darren’s photographs to look over I knew it would be hard to choose just four. But in all honesty this photograph, to me, stood out to be my favorite.
The cheetah is a high speed animal which normally has the look of the hunt in its eye. Here, Darren has captured so much of the Cheetah’s personality from a docile moment.
What do we think when we look at this? I see a master of the hunt taking forty winks under the relenting heat of the African sun. Then again, maybe Cheetahs get headaches too? Either way the sharpness of this image so closely focused on this big cats features makes it a wonderful photograph that stands out so well. The framing takes in all the cat’s beauty and poise.
I wonder how close Darren had to get to take this photograph? And how low to the ground he had to go? I’ll leave that to Darren to answer as I think it would make a fascinating series.
Thanks to Darren, Louise and all at Wildlifephotography.tv for asking me to be guest editor today, it’s been really enjoyable.
