One of the things that struck me when I visited Malta earlier this year was the number of stray cats on the island. There are literally hundreds of them just mooching about everywhere. Despite being strays most of them seem quite healthy – I think some of the local cafe owners feed them. It’s possibly a way to attract tourists as a pretty moggy is going to pull people in!
With the exception of this brave one, the cats we saw were all having mid-day snoozes and resting under bushes. He was just as keen on having a rest, but he was also looking to get as close as possible to the fishermen just down below on the cliff face. Like the cafe owners, they feed cats too. Nice fresh fish – lucky thing!
