Relax and watch the day go by …

Sometimes you arrive somewhere and there is absolutely nothing you can do. It was like that when we arrived in Porto, Portugal in March this year. It absolutely tipped down with rain from the instant we got there, and walking through the centre of town to find our hotel we got absolutely soaked. To make matters worse, yours truly hadn’t taken a coat or any means of keeping dry. Soaked to the skin, we ended up paying twenty euros each for a rather bright umbrella that looked very effeminate!

Needing to regain some manliness, and get out of the rain, we checked in our bags and got a taxi off to Solar do Vinho do Porto an amazing bar that I’d read about beforehand which has many, many varieties of port. We tried a few, just to be polite, and watched the rain dwindle away. The bar is high on the cliff with a great view so it wasn’t really a hardship to be confined inside.
