Cheeting the decline

by Felicity Fuller

Every Friday Darren invites someone to be Guest Editor for the day to choose and discuss three or four of his images that have previously not been published on the website.  Today’s Guest Editor is Felicity Fuller who works at one of our favourite charities, the brilliant Born Free Foundation and will be updating us a little on some of the work of Born Free.  Felicity is writing in a personal capacity.

Looking at this magnificent cheetah, it is worrying to know that The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has classed the North West African sub-species of cheetah Critically Endangered, the rest of the African population as Vulnerable 3 & the Asiatic sub-species Critically Endangered.  Great then that Born Free is committed to rescuing captive cheetahs as well as other Big Cats and plans building a major Wildlife, Conservation and Education Centre, near Addis Abiba, capital of Ethiopia – to find out more about Born Free’s work with cheetahs please visit the project page on the Born Free website.
