Busy time for a small one

by Darren

Spring is a busy time for a little one, especially when they have littler ones to look after, and this poor blue tit has been working so hard it’s looking a bit scruffy.

It’s an important time for garden birds and a crucial time for us to put food out to make it a bit easier on those tired feathers.  To sweeten the deal you can put a handy perch nearby so that your pictures have an uncluttered background, like I’ve done with this piece of bamboo.

You’ll stand more chance of success if you put food out over the winter as by the time spring comes the birds will know where to look. They need the food during this time too as it’s hard to come by.  Even better put up some nesting boxes and you’ll stand every chance of a few residents come spring.
