No cuttlefish were harmed …

by Darren

Sometimes some landmarks are so famous and so commonly photographed that it’s difficult to create a new view of it. In just 10 years the London Eye has become one of those ubiquitous and iconic images which every photographer who visits London will make. Westminster Bridge will often be crowded with both professional and amateur photographers all trying to get that perfect view.

For this photograph I decided not to try to capture the full structure of the Eye, but a small section of it, focusing more on the spokes than the pods with the tourists.  That said, I really like the little silhouettes of the people enjoying their ‘flight’.

On processing I thought it would be interesting to colour the image sepia – creating an old-style postcard effect on this new tourist attraction.  No cuttlefish were harmed in the making of this digital image!
